MouldMedic provides professional services including:
Mould Inspections
The Services that we provide include full and detailed mould inspections including identifying the cause of the mould problem. This is our base level service offering. The mould inspection includes a consultation with the client to discuss findings and next steps (if applicable).
Air Quality Testing
Sometimes you cannot see mould, yet are experience physical symptoms, such as respiratory or dermatological issues. Client’s sometimes find that their family physician prescribe antibiotics quite often. This can point to a hidden mould problem. We recommend an air quality analysis be performed to see if there are higher than normal levels of either mould or other particles that are in the air causing these symptoms.
Air quality testing can identify anything in your living environment that could be causing you respiratory or other issues.
MouldMedic® provides quick and efficient air quality testing and reporting services.

Mould Root Cause Analysis
Removing and dealing with mould is only a small part of the remediation effort. Without diagnosing the underlying cause mould will just return and have to be dealt with again. Property owners sometimes ask “can you guarantee that the mould won’t come back?”. No one can guarantee against mould re-occurring if the root cause is not identified and corrected.
MouldMedic@ is proud on having an excellent track record and many years of experience in identifying the root cause of mould problems. We are able to provide you with advice on the steps that they need to take in order to prevent mould from re-emerging. We do this in conjunction with our mould inspections and/or air quality testing.
Mould Consultations
We tie in our mould consultations with the Mould Inspection and Air Quality Testing services we offer. We sit down with you, our client, and answer questions or concerns that you may have regarding your mould situation. This ensures that you have a full understanding of the situation. This includes how you got there and what you need to do in order to be permanently free of the problem.
Structural Drying Services
In all cases, mould results from the combination of mould spores, digestible materials and moisture. There are situations where the mould remediation needs to be complemented by structural drying to stop the mould growth in its tracks or to prevent further expansion of the mould growth area. This requires controlling the growth environment. Along with our mould expertise, we are equipped to provide structural drying services. Using state of the art Low Grain Refrigerant dehumidifiers, we are able to customize the drying process in conjunction with mould services for a one-stop, efficient workflow.
Asbestos Testing
Asbestos is a cancer causing agent. Was your house built or renovated in 1977 or before? If so you likely have asbestos containing materials in your home. Most people are aware that a 9 inch by 9 inch vinyl floor tile may contain asbestos, but don’tknow that it can also be present in the plaster on walls.
We find Asbestos in wallboard, siding and roofing, ceiling tiles and lay-in panels. We can also find it in asphalt floor tile, vinyl floor tile, vinyl sheet flooring, flooring backing, vinyl wall coverings and even the glues used to set those materials in place.
Before you start any renovations or demolition have your property tested for asbestos containing materials.
MouldMedic® can assist you in providing asbestos testing services in a quick and efficient manner.
Contact MouldMedic® today to get the sampling and testing performed.
Formaldehyde Testing
I’m sure we have all heard or experienced the Urea Formaldehyde Foam Insulation (UFFI) situation which occurred in the 70’s. Industrial, commercial and older residential buildings were often retrofitted with UFFI.
In December of 1980 the Government of Canada prohibited it from advertising, sale or importation into Canada under the Hazardous Products Act. Formaldehyde is a highly toxic systemic poison which is linked to cancer in humans.
As comfortable as we are with the thought that we are now free of this risk, there are still many things in the home that contain Formaldehyde. You can find Formaldehyde in manufactured wood products used as building materials such as OSB, plywood, MDF, and particle board. How many of us have had our properties renovated with MDF baseboards and trim since 1980?
Manufacturers build and assemble furniture like desks, bookshelves, beds, kitchen cabinets, and more with Formaldehyde containing materials. Although Formaldehyde emissions from these products reduce over time, there are many other invisible sources in the home.
Manufacturers also use Formaldehyde in paints, coatings, plastic products, pesticides, cosmetics, mattress ticking, leather goods, adhesives, glues, resins, synthetic fabrics, permanent press bedding, clothing, and drapes.
The U.S. regulates Formaldahyde, however Canada currently does not. Canada has, up to this point “recommended” and not regulated Formaldehyde levels. The Government of Canada is, however currently developing Formaldehyde regulations under the Environmental Protection Act.
Sometimes we may think we have a mould problem when it really is a formaldehyde problem. Read a real-life story about just such a case.

VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) Testing
Volatile organic compounds or VOC’s as they are more commonly referred to also have an impact on the humans body. Health effects can include eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches, loss of coordination and nausea as symptoms and result in such things as liver and kidney damage and also central nervous system damage.
VOC’s can be found in paints, paint strippers and other solvents, as well as wood preservatives, aerosol sprays, cleaners and disinfectants, moth repellents and air fresheners, stored fuels and automotive products, hobby supplies, dry-cleaned clothing and pesticides.
Other products, including: building materials and furnishings, office equipment such as copiers and printers, correction fluids and carbonless copy paper, graphics and craft materials including glues and adhesives, permanent markers and photographic solutions.
During our Formaldehyde testing we can also test for high levels of VOC’s. Contact MouldMedic® today to book an appointment.
Mould Remediation
If there is less than 10 square feet of mould then most guidelines state that this mould can be safely remediated by the property owner. If you have any area of mould greater than 10 square feet you should leave the remediation work to professionals. We have the experience in dealing with small to large mould situations and use the appropriate methods, thus ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the property owners/occupants.
